Hello,
I started a Paypal account a couple of years ago. At that time, all I had to do was register and add a credit card number to my profile. When that card expired and I wanted to add a new card, Paypal wanted me to "get verified" and wanted my bank account number. I don't care how safe Paypal's encrption is - I don't want to give Paypal my bank account number. I don't even understand why they want it. Paymate doesn't want my bank account number so why does Paypal?

Well, you have to get verified through your bank to be able to send money in any form now - Homeland Security rules.
You give your bank account nmbver out every time you write a check or use your debit card - I don't know why you're reluctant to give it to paypal.
If you're worried aboput your acount security, visit the security center and pick up a security key for $5 - it generates a second password every 30 seconds that makes it impossible for a hacker to break into your paypal account even if you GAVE him your password.

I don't want to give my bank account number either,if I still had one currently!I feel this is an invasion of privacy if you ask me.Because of this I buy for Ebay and online merchants honestly and have never had this problem with this BullrCr@p limit for almost 10 years!Even My prepaid debt is no good.A Paypal phone rep said for me to use a Green Dot money pak card (it's $4.95 per card) and there was still a limit! This rep DID NOT STATE THIS INFORMATION TO ME.He made it seem that this would solve my problem with the limit but it didn't.Some one should fix this problem as I'm sure I'm not the only honest buyer and sometimes seller who has this problem..... 😞

Can you point me to, or cite the statute re the Homeland Security rules? I'd like to ask my US representative about it.
I also have absolutely no intention of giving Paypal my bank account number and if that means I have to stop shopping on Ebay and using Paypal, so be it. Keeping all transactions on a credit card for a variety of security reasons was the point of having a Paypal account anyway.

I am never going to do again. They will rob my bank account. The only reason why I had overdraft charges is because of paypal. Requiring a bank account is a lie. 2checkout or Alert Pay don't require it.

I felt the same way for my first year as a member of Paypal but when I wanted a debit card so I could access my money through an ATM I had to relent. But I have never had a problem. And if I did I know that PayPal would make it right as they have always done for me. I am more than satisfied with their security and support staff.

Well, you have to get verified through your bank to be able to send money in any form now - Homeland Security rules.
So does this mean that every time I send money via Western Union or a merchant services provider runs my debit card, I should provide them with all of my bank account info, social security #, and photo copies of my driver's license, etc? That being said there is a difference between sending (wiring) "money" from your account and attempting to make a "payment" for an ebay purchase with a legitimate invoice. Why should I have to give you all of my financial information in order to make $30 purchase??!
I would also like to see a copy of the Homeland Security directive requesting that all banking information be gathered for said purposes. I'm getting quite fed up with companies throwing around "homeland security rules" in order to get away with gathering more information on customers in order to protect themselves from the financial risks of doing business. I will be making a call to my state senator's office.

I love how the people who obviously work for paypal respond to these questions. "You shouldn't have any problem at all giving us all your personal information....."
They must be making a fortune off of people who just don't have a bank accounts and who just don't want to open bank accounts because of nonsense like this.
