I am in hong kong and want to recive money from fiver. I made an account with my primary email account it does not ask me about my country, just my nationality, which I chose Hong kong. But when I try to add my bank account it says cyprus under it, turns out you cant take your country and you habe to close your account plus you can not use that email account too. So I made a second account with my secondary email adress went to the same process made ABSOLUTLY SURE that cyprus didnt pop up anywhere, but when i went to write in my bank info, it agian said CYPRUS!!! I am so frustrated please help me.

Same here, same exact scenario.. can any human from Paypal help on this problem?... I did try sending "support" and email, instead the robot at the door gave me a pre-form with address rules. My country was set to Puerto Rico, then the system decided to change it to CYPRUS, so I can't even add a bank account for business.
HELP!!.

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.
The country you are opening your account in is chosen when you go to the PayPal website. To make sure that you are signing up to the right country, go to www.PayPal.com and scroll to the bottom of the page and check the flag there. If the flag is not correct click on it. This will bring you to a page where you can select the correct country.
It is correct that the country cannot be changed once your account is open so it would be necessary to close the account and open a new one to resolve this issue.

Well I live in Puerto Rico and it stamped CYPRUS as a country.... there are no flags to pick on the new website.... this is complete bull******** Why ask me my address if you are going to automagically decide what country I am in!? And close the account and make a new one only because of this!? Well how about NO. I'd rather NOT use paypal at all! Honestly this gives me no way to proceed other than start over from scratch!? I am shocked......

************Buenas tardes. La forma de resolver esto es la siguiente:**********
1) En los settings de la cuenta "Business account" dale "close account" para cerrar la cuenta.
2) Con el mismo email habre una cuenta tipo "Individual account".
3) El país a escoger es "United States". De todos modos "Puerto Rico" no aparece en las opciones.
4) Si te da para escoger estado es "PR".
5) Una vez hagas link de una cuenta de banco.
6) Cambia la cuenta a una de tipo "Business" (En los settings aparece esa opción)
P.D. También soy de Puerto Rico y me apareció esa **bleep** de que no podía cambiar el país y que salía Cyprus.

Hello!
1) Close your account under profile < My settings < close account
2) Open an individual account (It can be with the same email since the other is closed)
3) Now you can choose your country.
4) Link a bank account
5) After you confirm the two micro deposits then,
6) Upgrade to Businnes account (profile < account options < upgrade to business account)
and that's all!

And what if the old account that I want to close contains still some money. Is it possible to transfer it to a new account with the same e-mail address?
