Connecting an existing Xoom account to an existing PayPal account

I have had a Xoom account for many years ( before it was acquired by PayPal ).

My Question is - Is there a way to connect an existing account with PayPal to and existing account with Xoom with out creating a new account in either of them?

 

I have History ( recipients, bank credit history, credit history) with both I DO NOT want to lose.

 

I have followed the instructions to start an International money 'send' transaction with PayPal but when it takes me over to Xoom it gives me an 'oops ... something went wrong try again' error  every time I have tried. (which in my opinion~ is a result of not creating my Xoom account originally through PayPal but through Xoom itself).

As said, I've had my Xoom account long before PayPal got involved with Xoom. 

 

Am I correct with the above reason for the error ?

 

I have called PayPal to explain and try to link the accounts and the PayPal customer Rep says remedy lies with Xoom  and visa versa from Xoom an issue with PayPal,  so i am getting the hand-off run around.

 

Any ideas  short of creating new accounts in either Xoom or PayPaL   ?
