Credit/Debit Cards Not Accepted

Hi All,
Just tried to pay for something that I use all the time and my PayPal payment was declined. I went to PayPal and have found that the debit and credit cards I had in my account are now not accepted. I only used my debit card 2 days ago and frequently before that and it worked fine.
I then tried to add a completely different credit card and it was not accepted.
So at the moment I cannot use PayPal as my cards, which I have used successfully, are NOT ACCEPTED.
Can anyone help me, please?

Seems to be a general 'glitch' as quite a few others posting on the same problem.
Advice is voluntary.

Yes, I just went to change my card details, as my old card was compromised. Deleted the old one, tried to add the new one & was told the bank hadn't accepted it. Phoned the bank & they didn't see any notification, so it's not their end. New card works fine with Amazon. Will try again tomorrow.
It's fairly irrelevant for me, as I'm set up to pay via my bank account & my debit card takes money from the same account.
