Name on PayPal is my father's name?

Hi. My PayPal account was originally created with my father's card for a one-time purchase and is now currently linked with my current card and bank account but it still displays my father's name due to being created on my card. There are a couple ebay transactions on the card so would I just need to request a name change through PayPal or close it entirely and have to make a new one? Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.

If the account is in your father's name you would need to close it and open a new one in your own name. It is only possible to change the name on a PayPal account is there is a legal reason for doing this such as marriage, divorce or legal name change.

Here’s how to close your old PayPal account:

1. Log into your PayPal account at www.paypal.com
2. Click the Profile icon at the top of the page.
3. Select My account settings.
4. In the ‘Account Type’ section, click Close account and follow the instructions.

After you close your account, any transactions that are in progress are cancelled.
 

Here’s how to create a new PayPal account:

1. Go to www.paypal.com
2. Click Sign Up at the top of the page.
3. Select your country or region and your language.
4. Select the type of account you want to create, and then click Get Started.
5. Enter your information, and then click Agree and Create Account.

After you have confirmed your email address, you can use your new account.
