Removing Credit Card failure - "Instant Bank Transfer is still pending" ?

I need to update my credit card details.

 

My first card is used as a back up funding source for my bank account.

[The first card was actually replaced some time ago and so any attempt to use it would fail.]

 

I have added the second credit card details successfully

I have made the second credit card my "primary" card

I then tried to delete my first card but I get the message:

"You may not remove your back-up funding source while an Instant Bank Transfer is still pending."

 

I have not used my account in the last few weeks and so do not know (or can find) what this pending Instant Bank Transfer relates to.

 

Any suggestions?

Hello..i'm new to ebay and have just varified my account but it won't let me add my debit card. I want to do this because it's quicker. It keeps saying "before you can add this credit card to another account" I don't understand? Do i need 2 cards? I only have the one. Shall i just close my account and start again?? Also my name on my ebay and paypal account is dawn evans and on my bank card it's MISS D M EVANS. Should they have been the same? would really like some help!!! Thankyou

Paypal online application allows only to remove expired credit cards, the message ("instant bank transfer pending") is of course misleading - intentional!?

 

My stolen credit card is after one year of occasional removal attempts still listed as a backing source, I gave up to contact Paypal about it (until today that I have an address change and the un-removable card is listed as confirmed with a wrong address) - whatever, Paypal ...

Hi guys,

 

If you are receiving an error message when trying to remove a card from your PayPal account, it may be a technical issue that is preventing you from removing the card from your account. You would need to contact customer services and we can assist you further with removing the card from your account for you.

 

If you are facing difficulties when trying to add a card to your account, it may be that the card is being rejected by your bank when you are trying to add the card to your account. If your name is in your initialy on your card, I don't think it would be too much of an issue when you are trying to register the card as it is still the same initials and your full name.

 

Another thing that you should try to ensure is that the billing address and the expiry date of the card are correct. If you have a statement to hand when you are trying to add the card and then ensure that the billing address on your PayPal account and on the statement are exactly the same.

Dear David,

 

I am having the same problem with removing the old primary card, which I no longer have, after replacing it with a new one. Again....they say there are transactions, but there are none. My son is also having this problem, so it seems to be a glitch in the system. Can you please please please get in touch with the technicians who created this site and ask them to look at it for us. I cannot remove the old card......can you do this for me please?

Hi David,

 

I have tried so many times......all different times......in between transactions......so please don't repeat what you said before. I don't feel I should have to contact customer services for a glitch in the system that can easily be fixed. 

 

Please help us with this,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you on this.

 

The error message you are all receiving when trying to remove cards or bank accounts from your accounts is a known technical issue and our technical teams are trying to get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

 

The only way you will be able to get these cards removed from your PayPal account will be by contacting customer services directly. We can then try to get the card or bank account removed from your account for you.

Wow 10 months to realise this is a fault and acknowledge it?  I would have lost my job a long time ago if I was the site designer...

 

Anyway, yes I have the same issue and no I'm not going to contact customer services.  I will just leave it 10 months and maybe it will have resolved itself?  Good job your designers/coders don't work with SLA's

Same for me: Got a new card with a new number so my old card is blocked, kaput, defunct, etc., etc. Added my new card, confirmed it, made it primary, tried to remove my old card and I get "You may not remove your back-up funding source while an Instant Bank Transfer is still pending" but there is nothing pending.

 

That's my obligations and responsibilities fully done. If Paypal have problems with the old card still on my account, that's Paypal's problem not mine!
