I hope someone can help!
I recently purchased an item, and used Paypal, but I accidentally used my bank account instead of my credit card.
Because I didn't have the funds in my bank account (and probably never will!), the charge failed. My account is now negative.
I want to resolve my negative balance using a credit card, but the only option is a bank transfer. As I said, I will never have that much money in my account, which is precisely why I wanted to use a credit card in the first place. I don't have a cheque book or any other means of payment, which means if I cannot pay by credit card, Paypal won't be getting their money!
I have tried contacting Paypal, but had no response in about a week. I don't know what to do!
I just cannot understand why I can't use a credit card to resolve the negative balance.

You can only upload funds to your paypal account via a bank account in this country.
There is a get around.....do you have a mate that has a paypal account? If you do get them to send you a gift payment and that will clear your neg balance and you can pay them back with cash or whatever.
To do this they would need to go to send money > and select the personal and not the purchase tab > then select gift payment > they must be careful imputting your email addy as if they put it in incorrectly it could go to another account and you may not get it back.....also to avoid paying any fees they much fund it from funds in their bank account or paypal balance and not via a debit or credit card.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks for the help, but I think it's been resolved.
After I posted here, I sent another message to Paypal. A little while later I received a phonecall, and they helped me pay the balance over the phone via credit card. It should be cleared by tomorrow.

its actually ridiculous that we have to call to resolve with a credit card when for so many YEARS in the U.S. you were able to press a link that said "resolve negative balance" and it immediately charged your credit/debit card listed. I can't even find anything about this atrocity in the U.S. forum 🙂 Of course I guess they got tired of answering the question as to why you can't access your money immediately rather than going through the exhaustive time consuming 'bank deposit' on everything else, so it begs the question, "why is paypal making it HARDER rather than easier to pay off your account?" It seems that they are right ther with the banks or in cahoots to help the banks make more money on bounced checks (since you never know when the dang thing is going to hit your account and SOMEONE, either the bank or paypal has your money for longer than you do). Whats up with having LESS access to our bank accounts and making it TOUGHER to pay off our balances paypal?

This stumped and frustrated me for some time, in the end I stumbled across an easy workaround whilst making a contribution toward the upkeep of a forum I use heavily:
- Ensuring that you select Credit Card as the payment method in PayPal and complete the check-out of your cart at your favourite online store (you may need to remind PayPal to use your Credit Card to fund the transaction at this point)
- PayPal will add the negative balance to the total of the transaction.
- Zero balance is restored.
Done.
