Why are people still using paypal?

Having posted just now about the issues I've had, I had a look at some of the other people who posted with the tag 'angry', It makes me wonder why people are still using paypal? I had already emailed them saying give me my money and then close my account, i'll be back to check on my money and if they don't close my account then i certainly will. The way this company works is through stealing the interest of your money whilst it sits in their 'pending' folders, all very well and good since thats how the world works but if it's so bad that they keep your money all the time then just close your accounts. I should have done this in February when paypal first charged me incorrectly causing me to receive bank charges for going illegally overdrawn, this was paypals error not mine, it was not only a cancelled order but they charged me twice, having no help from them and hearing nought but fibs when i spoke to them on the phone that should have been enough for me to close the account and never use their services again, I however am a trusting fool, and I genuinely believed that it was a one time mistake and they were a good company really. Boy was I wrong. Done with paypal I am, and if the force is strong with you then done with paypal you are too.

EVERY ebay seller on ebay has been through the hold and most are happy with it.
This is because if the bad sellers are weeded out early then it is better for the rest of us sellers and for buyer protection.
You RARELY have to wait the 21 days.

I suppose I didn't make it clear enough with that message, but the wait for my money was the tip of the iceberg, I get that there are valid reasons why it might take longer than 2-3 business days (even though all my ebay transactions are done and received, great feedback left and everything) The reason I'm mainly seriously cross with paypal was the fact that they incorrectly charged me twice for a cancelled item, and then lied to me on the phone regarding them looking into it and refunding my charges that they caused. If you'd like to volunteer advise me why thats acceptable then I'd love to hear your answer.

If you were able to cancel a payment it means the seller made a mistake with the email address on their auction and could not accept your payment.
When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal credit the seller for you and then start the process of uploading your funds to paypal from your funding source.
This is done so you get your item more quickly.
So when you cancel that payment (as the seller can't accept it), those funds can't do a u-turn > they have to process through to paypal who will then either return them to your funding source (if you paid with a debit or credit card), or credit your paypal balance (if it was funded from your balance or instant bank transfer), but that takes a few days and sometimes up to a week.

Clearly there was a misunderstanding, the current transactions (the past few weeks) of ebay have been fine, all paid quickly and i sent immediatly, it's paypal that are hanging on to the money, and as i said i do understand that, but given that all my transactions are complete i can not comprehend why paypal can still hold my money as 'pending', that however was not the crux of the issue. In February of 2013 i made a purchase online, 20 minutes later it was cancelled due to the suppliers stock issues, i contacted paypal and they assured me it would be fine and i would be refunded with no problems. Two days later, paypal finished the transaction and took the money out of my account, I contacted them again and said "hey, what gives?" they said "oh sorry about that, our mistake we'll refund you" a FEW DAYS later I was refunded my money, however by then i'd already receieved a bank charge for going overdrawn. "Never mind" I thought, these things happen, twas a simple mistake, I'm sure it won't happen again. One month later however, paypal took the payment YET AGAIN, AGAIN putting me overdrawn, and this time for no good reason since I hadn't made an identical purchase, in fact I hadn't used paypal for anything being a little unsure of it's consistency. I called again, and said "hey guys, this ain't right? and now you've frozen my account, why would you do that? can we fix this please?" they responded to me with "Yep, unfrozen your account, we will refund you your money, and i'll speak to my boss regarding the bank charges, since that's unacceptable" three days later i had my incorrect charge refunded, i had my account unfrozen, but i'd heard nothing from paypal, not even a little note saying "dear sarah, sorry we screwed the pooch on that one, we won't do it again." I called again and spoke to a different man who was equally sure that it wasn't policy to take my money without my permission, and once again would talk to a mystical manager man about an investigation into what had happened. Then it comes to now, where i only used paypal to pay for minimal things so if they screw it up i won't be charged yet again, another 15 quid that i work hard to earn and paypal happily throws away. This is what has annoyed me so, and to find now that i have used ebay, people wanted to use paypal, i said yeah ok, they can't charge me for that can they??!! Oh dear, no they can't charge me, but they can keep the money for more than is reasonable, given that the sales are complete.

Wow paragraphs would help, can't read all that makes my eyes squiffy.
If you are not happy then yes close your account.
I post here because ebay and paypal have >>
1. Enable me to buy items from ebay I can't get anywhere else and when I did not get an item they enable me to get a refund.
2. I was able to sell stuff i could never sell locally and got money for items i could not sell elsewhere.
In 12 years I have never had a problem that was not resolved.

I do apologise for not writing it appropriately....
Is this better?
Sum up i can say - you really don't care to help with the issue
You are simply saying you don't have issues with paypal, therefore paypal is great
That is neither helpful nor informative.
If you can't read then perhaps get a manual or take a course
Your title as a volunteer advisor is misleading, It seems to suggest that you will help with the issues, all you have done is patronise people who are vexed with the situation and then say "well I don't have any problems, but you should close your account"
thats exactly what this post was about, so why did you bother responding at all? just to agree with it in an incredibly tedious and irritating way, where you at first completely missed the point?
I don't understand what you think you've proven here, If i myself were a volunteer advisor I would have read into this post that someone is very annoyed with the service and would like someone to talk to who can rectify the issues, or at least someone who doesn't try and be snide.

yes I also go to work, and i didn't want to have an online debate / argument with anyone, what i wanted was to put my opinion out there and say to people in the same situation (or similar) to me that I don't understand why people stick with paypal, so perhaps someone can explain why.
i know you don't work for paypal, the term 'volunteer' would assert that. I work for a company, and i still wouldn't recommend it unless it did some massive turn arounds because they're pretty rubbish, working for a company doesn't mean you're an avid supporter.
Really all you've done is aggravate a person who just wanted an apology from someone at paypal, I just wanted someone to say "you know what, thats not right" and all you have done is be rude and cocky. Perhaps you were trying to do the right thing, perhaps you were trying to be helpful, but it came across to me that you were being a snidey cheerleader, and when i tried to explain my situation you just became offensive, then dismissive. Thankyou all the same.
