Hi,
I had the same problem, although I didn't pay the £5 for the quicker service. I made a withdrawl into my bank account which has taken 7 days, despite Paypal saying it takes 2-3 days.
The reason it has taken so long it seems is because they put a hold on my withdrawal for 72 hours. I am yet to hear the reason for this hold. It's taken me a long phone call and 2 complaints via email before I got this far.
Everyone should be made aware that Paypal can withold withdrawals at will for reasons unknown and will delay you getting your money. Don't expect them to give you any warning either. When I asked why I wasn't told why my money would be late I was told it's not in Paypal's 'policy'.
My advice - make a complaint via the 'contact us' bit on paypal's site. Don't expect a straight answer 1st time round. Keep making complaints until you get somewhere. I suggest not wasting money phoning them cos you won't get anything but crap from them.
At the very least you should get your £5 back but 'Im guessing you'll need to fax your bank account statement to Paypal prove you haven't received your money.
Good luck!

I've had this problem too. Will I get my money if I wait seven days or do I have to make a complaint to get the money?

Hi,
I can't say for sure but if your paymeny has been held you won't get your money any faster I'm afraid. In my case I kept making complaints until I finally got answers from some git from Paypal. Basically they put holds on payments, seemingly at random, for 'security checks'. They won't explain what these checks are or why they've done them. It seems there's a clause somewhere in their small print but I can't even be bothered anymore, I'm just going to close my account.
They have offered me £25 compensation which is nice, although doesn't cover the £60 charge from my bank for going overdrawn which was the end result of my issues.
Just keep complaing until you get some anwsers. The more people complian the more chance they might actually do something about it.
FYI see below for the email I got from Paypal about this matter.

I have a quite similar problem and i spent so much money for calling them. Surprisingly I am so patient waiting and didn't wanna give up. I would probably press this issue on wordpress since i am a writer. I think the public should know this.
