Every single time I withdraw money from my paypal account it says Your withdrawal request is awaiting release for final processing, pending review by PayPal. The last transaction took 5 days. Is this normal? In the email paypal sent me it said it would take 2 hours. Then they sent me another saying it could take 24 hours. Then a third email saying 72 hours. This has never happened before yet every single withdrawal is now always pending. Why is this?i actually need the money asap as I have just lost a family member and need the money for train tickets to visit my sisters and sort arrangements out.

Welcome to the Community Forum! I'm so sorry to hear about the delays you're experiencing with your withdrawals.

Withdrawals may be held by our internal security system from time to time, for up to 72 hours. When this type of hold occurs, we don't receive an exact reason, as it occurs automatically, but it's not something that should always happen with your transactions.

Possible reasons for the hold include:

• You may have received a higher-than-usual amount of money into your account recently
• You may have started selling more expensive items
• You may have started to sell different items
• You may have made changes to your account profile (such as adding a new address or a new bank account)
• You may have accessed your account differently recently (such as logging in from abroad)
• You may have received a higher-than-usual number of chargebacks, refunds, complaints or claims recently
• You may have reported unauthorised activity on your PayPal account recently 

Once the hold time has been reached, the funds should be on your bank account within 2-3 hours. I'm so sorry for any inconvenience caused by this.

Hi. I haven't received more money than usual. I rang payapl and even they admitted this should not be happening all the time. Yet it is. The lady I spoke to reversed payment then got me to transfer back into my bank account yet it was still pending. She tried this a few times and cannot understand why this is happening. Which for me is even more worrying. I sold something on ebay which I didn't really want to sell to raise some cash towards getting to my family faster. I have just lost my dad. Now I can't leave until I get my money. Plus I need to post item which has to be shipped special delivery which costs about £10. So now I will be even worse off. So I'm not too happy at the moment. I waited a week for my last withdrawal to clear. I will have to take a loan out with my bank tomorrow.

It's over 24 hours now and still no money. I have had to contact buyer on ebay and tell him I can't post until money has cleared in my bank as I can't afford the post. Ebay would not let me charge the full amount of postage that the item costs to send special delivery. So I'm paying for the rest out of my own pocket. What started out as something so simple has turned into a complicated nightmare.
