Insufficient funds in bank account, credit card used as backup?

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I ordered goods from the US and received shipment confirmation on 29 July. I checked my PP account today and see that the funds were transferred from my bank account rather than my credit card as I had thought. I didn't have enough funds in my bank account and checking it today, there are no payments pending.
Would my credit card automatically have been used as the funding source instead? Or will the payment have failed?
I haven't received any emails to inform me that payment hasn't been received but I'm just worried now in case I don't get the goods. They were hard to find in the first place and I don't want any payment hiccups.
TIA

Hi there theredsoles,
The payment method hierarchy is as follows:
1. PayPal Balance.
2. Instant Bank Transfer.
3. Credit or Debit Card.
4. eCheque.
If the payment was sent using your bank account it takes 5-7 working days to complete or fail, if you have not received notification saying it has failed we have not been notified by your bank yet.
If the payment fails we will then attempt to take it from your back up funding source, the card. Don't worry your seller will not be aware of this and will already have the funds as we pay them on your behalf immediately.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Siobhan
I'll hang on for a few more days then. I got a shipping confirmation on 29 July but there has been no activity since then when clicking on the tracking link. I was worried that payment hadn't been received, since it's still not showing up on my credit card or bank account.
thanks.
