Scam Email regarding payment to Skype Inc

Paypal users please beware of a scam Email regarding payments to Skype Inc.  I have just received an Email supposedly from Paypal regarding payment for 3 months subscriptin to Skype Inc.  The Email states that if you have not authorised this payment then please click on "cancel payment" button.

Please ignore this Email as I do not believe this is from Paypal as it does not state my name, ebay membership or Email address as the recipient - it simply welcomes the Paypal Client.

Also when I clicked on cancel payment it redirected me to another site which I immediately closed without entering any personal details.

Thanks Pam

I got it too, this morning and was quite startled. However, I am at work and as soon as I clicked the link my company's URL filter blocked it and highlighted it as a malicious site! Phew!

As of today this scam is still alive and kicking.  Odd thing is that I started to use Skype again after a long layoff from it. Next thing I get an email about a  three monthly payment to Skype.

I've noticed this with other applications which I've not used for a while. I use whatever it is and next thing I get a scam email.  Fedex, DHL, Royal Mail Parcels are examples.

I got this email today too and as I have not used Skype myself but my wife and daughter do I thought it was a genuine PayPal message, so I clicked the link at the bottom of the email and it took me to a convincing page that looked like PayPal. I put in user name, address details card details and bank details. It was a few hours later I mentioned it to my daughter and she told me Skype was completely free. I searched for this as a scam and came to this page. Now after realising I have been scammed and given all me details out i have had to have my bank card cancelled, and change my password on eBay, PayPal and hotmail accounts. Thankfully I cannot see any money taken from my accounts so far. PayPal could help on this by emailing all of their customers that this scam is going around. Usually I don't fall and can spot scams quite well, but this time I was very easily sucked in. What a hassle it's been to change everything
