Sending money from China to England

Hello everyone,

Basically my friend in China owes me money. We have been looking into things and it seems to be a difficult process because China doesn't like money leaving the country. Does anyone know if PayPal works between the two countries? Or will my friend have to set up a Chinese PayPal or something?

He only has a Chinese bank account and an American one (he is American).

Thanks!

From Wikipedia" On March 17, 2010, PayPal entered into an agreement with China UnionPay (CUP), China's bankcard association, to allow Chinese consumers to use PayPal to shop online."

So Chinese people can use PayPal these days. But that information is of no help to your friend.

If your friend have an American PayPal account he can not set up a Chinese one so the only way is for him to send money from his Chinese bank account to his American bank account and then from there use his American PayPal account to transfer the money to your PayPal account.

This blog seem to address this issue of sending money from a Chinese bank account to a foreign one:

(unfortunatelly seems to be abit of a nightmare to deal with Chinese banks when making Imnternational transfers)

Here is some more usefull info perhaps for some more methods:
