Where shall i start! Basically i sell things on and off of ebay and the email address i use on my listings and to correspond with poeple is a hotmail.co.uk account that i set up approx 3 years ago. all reigstered to me and in my name.

Somebody else though has registered this hotmail account as the email address for their paypal, therefore if somebody makes a payment to me using the hotmail account address by the mistake then tthis other person is getting the money!

I am even receiving the dispute emails that paypal are sending to this person(i do have their name) as it goes to my hotmail account

What can be done as it is quite clear that they have reigstered my email address to paypal before i got the chance and are now receiving money that isn't there's

Hi marylou83,

As far as I am aware hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk recycle their email address. If an email account hasn't been accessed in a certain amount of time they will close the account down and offer it to someone else.

It may be that the other user of this email address previously owned it, and added and confirmed it on PayPal and no longer uses the email address outside of PayPal.

When you add and confirm an email address on PayPal it confirms that you are the owner if this email address and that particular time. If however you stop using this email address and change email providers we are not notified of this and will continue to use the email address registered on the PayPal account.

I would suggest that you contact hotmail to see if the email address was a recycled email address and this may give you some more answers.

I hope this helps

Paula
