Transferring funds between IE and UK PayPal accounts?

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help.

I have both an Irish registered, and a UK registered PayPal account as I have residency in both countries. I will have GBP funds in my Irish PayPal account in a few days that I would like to transfer to my UK PayPal account, which I can then withdraw to my UK bank account.

  • My Irish PayPal account is a Premier account, and is Verified.
  • My UK PayPal account is a Personal account, and is also Verified.

I don't want to convert my balance to Euro to withdraw to my Irish bank account, and then tranfer via bank transfer as that will incur not only fees, but two currency conversion processes (GBP -> Euro and then back again).

Is there any way I can transfer funds from PayPal balance to PayPal balance without incurring fees?

I hope this isn't too confusing and I would really appreciate assistance on the matter. I can provide more information if required.

Thanks,

Richard

If you have sterling in your irish paypal balance and want to send it to your UK paypal balance then you can do it this way but you "may" be charged a cross-border fee but not a fee you normally get charged when a buyer pays you.

Go to send money > select the personal lighter coloured tab > gift payment.

Make sure you imput the email addy of your other account correctly as if you make a mistake you may not get the funds back again.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Ah I see, I wasn't aware of the cross-border fee so I had a look on the website, and according to PayPal the fee is 3.4% + £0.20 GBP. I was hoping that since my primary balance in my Irish account was GBP, and I would be transferring in GBP, that it wouldn't cost anything - but this doesn't seem to be a currency dependant fee.

I am pleased to hear I won't be charged a 'buyer' fee by transferring via gift. This wouldn't be classed as suspicious activity though, would it?

I think I will do it this way, as I still suspect it will be cheaper than converting and doing a bank-to-bank transfer, it will definitely be quicker anyway.

Thanks again and I'll update the thread when I do it.
