Under 18, account limited.

Hi,

I'm 16 years old and a frequent seller on eBay so I decided to make a Paypal account about a year ago to deal with transactions more easily. As you can see from my eBay profile:

I'm a respectable seller with 100% positive feedback but due to the amount of money that was going in and out of my account, Paypal have requested ID to prove who I am and also my age. Anyway, since I can't provide Paypal-abiding documents since I'm underage and my account is limited, I can't even close my Paypal account!

I only have £0.50 in my Paypal account so not really bothered about that but just not sure how to proceed.

It's frustrating as Paypal doesn't seem to be in any hurry to bring "Student accounts" to the UK as they've been available in the US for a good few years now. I guess I could use my Dad's Paypal account if mine were to be closed but it's pretty inconvenient considering he uses it frequently and organizing a cash flow into his account from my sales would be rather painful...But what choice do I have 😛

How do I proceed?

You must have lied when you entered your DOB to open a paypal account in the first place.

So wait until you are 18.

And you have to be 18 to have an ebay account as well then you must have lied on that one as well.

If you use your dads account you risk his account being limited as well.

But how can I close the account if it is limited?

You can't, paypal limit it so you can't remove your financial info ie bank account or cards and use them on another paypal account.

As you can't use paypal then you need to close your ebay account as you are not supposed to have one of those till you are 18.

Strangely enough, I actually managed to remove my bank details from my Paypal account today even though I haven't been able to in the past. I'll send an email and see where that gets me.
