Withdrawal Pending... Still Pending...

Hello,

I withdrew money from my Paypal account and was instantly sent an email saying that the money will be in my account within 24 hours?! Its been 12 and it still says pending. I write this because everyone i have spoken to says that it always takes 2-3 days. Is this an email everyone gets? or an i actually going to get my money in the next 12 hours?

If not the 24 hour email is unfair. I know it hasnt been 24 hours yet but people have worried me...

many thanks

andy

Hi,

I've put a payment through to apple on the 9th and it's still not gone through. I'm trying to understand this Pending process, it's due to security reason's correct? Am I awaiting a call from paypal? Or do they run some form of security check that doesn't involve me (which wouldn't really be secure).

If it is a phone call, I had to phone on the 9th as I realised my bank account wasn't properly verified. That was all done for me, could that not be the verification needed to approve my transaction?

Also, is there any way to cancel this process? I wouldn't mind simply paying the buyer by card now, but can't see any way to cancel this and don't want it going through twice.

Thanks

Hi EJDSlayer,

Thanks for posting and welcome.

It sounds like the type of payment used was what we call an order and authorisation. An ‘Order’ is an agreement between you and a merchant for a purchase of a specified amount. It is used when a merchant wants to delay taking a payment. The funds are not taken from your account straight away.

For example: The merchant may use the Order feature if they need to check if the item is in stock before taking your payment.

The payment will appear in your account with a status of ‘Pending’ until the merchant completes the order and takes payment. The status will then change to ‘Complete’. If you wish to cancel an order you must contact the merchant to do so. It is not possible to cancel an order from your PayPal account.

Note:

• The merchant cannot access your PayPal account or see any financial information
• When the merchant takes payment, PayPal will send you an email to advise you
• If the merchant does not take payment, an order will automatically be cancelled after 29 days and will have the status of ‘Void’ in your History Log

It may be that Apple have not got your order ready therefore have not taken the payment yet.

I hope this helps explain it a little better for you.

Paula

Why does Paypal have to take sooo long. I had to wait on a refund which took 7 days to arrive due to a 'temporary hold' in my Paypal account and then I thought it would only take two hours to move that money from my Paypal account to my bank account but now that transfer is 'pending'.

I am starting to feel a little bit ripped off as I worry that Paypal is holding my funds for as long as possible to accumulate interest etc. Why have I had to wait 7 days already and now potentially another 3 days to get my own money?

Reasons for temporary hold.

When you send a bank funded Instant Transfer payment, two things happen simultaneously:

- PayPal sends a request to your bank for the funds for the transaction. It takes 3-7 business days for funds to come from your bank.

- PayPal pays the seller up front for you, instantly, so that the seller will not delay in processing your order.

When refund or cancellation occurs for that payment within a few days of it being sent, the funds that PayPal paid up front for you are returned.

However, the funds from your bank account are still in transit. They haven't reached your PayPal account yet.

As soon as those funds clear, they are available for you to use or withdraw.

Withdrawals normally take from 2-24 hours although you normally get it instantly.

No because my refund has now processed and cleared into my paypal account. What is happening now is when I come to withdraw those funds I am now stuck waiting once again for those funds to enter my account.

I've recently had the same thing happen. I've been with PayPal for about 10 years, and have made several withdrawal requests in that time with no problems at all. This week I attempted to make quite a large withdrawal that is still pending after 52 hours. I have spoken to a nice lady called Jacqui at PayPal who advised that as I was making the withdrawal using a mobile phone app, and the app having difficulty identifying my ISPN address (to check if secure or not) my withdrawal was placed as pending and will definitely be released after 72 hours. She further advised that maybe I should make future withdrawals using a computer or at least the desktop version of the PayPal site. Maybe sound advice, to protect my money.
