Why do PP raid my bank account?

Why must PP have my bank account as the default payment method?  If I make a payment & forget to change to a credit card, they go and raid my bank account.  They will not make a credit card be the default payment method with a bank account as backup.  Or better yet, PP could just use a credit card like every other company in this world & don't even link to my bank account!

This policy is terrible.  I made a purchase last night, and in my excitement to pay the good seller rapidly I forgot to change the payment method to my cc.  My bank account (ie: available cash) is thus diminished. Why is PP so special that they can't operate like other companies?  Isn't that what credit cards were invented for?

Paypal is charged a smaller  fee for bank funded payments.

I just complained to PP vociferously (even to a supervisor), and they didn't mention that!  They just said something like 'for their protection'.  So they have access to my bank account and can't even be honest about why. <sigh>

Great.  Gives me real confidence in them.

they didn't "raid" your bankacount, you told them to take it from there.  It's your money, you need to pay attention to where it goes  - it's your responsibility.  They can only go by what you tell them.  Paypal can't tell that oh, oops, you didn't mean to do it that way.   If you handed the wrong credit card to a store for a purchase, would you blame the store for taking it out of the wrong credit card?  Same situation here.  Haven't you ever noticed that stores try to get you to use the debit option of your debit cards rather than credit even tho you can use a debit card either way  -- everyone who accepts credit/debit cards is charged a fee for each card they take. But they are charged less to process a debit card, or in paypal's case, a bank transfer, than if you use the same card and process it as a credit card.  So just like at the grocery store, you tell them if you want to debit-my-account or credit card with Paypal.  I doubt you'll make that mistake again.   so it was worth learning.
