Payment Pending to Macys

I  recently made an international order to macys.com. through a third party called Fortyone. A few hours later I received an email telling me that most of the order was out of stock and what was in stock  would be processed and shipped. The payment is still pending to the full amount. I phoned customer services but I couldn't get any sense out of the person I spoke to, I then phoned Fortyone who directed me back to Macys. Macys eventually said I would get a 'refund' in 15 working days?! Does anyone know the procedure with pending payments to merchants and will the order be re calculated? Thank you

Can you tell me then, what happens when the pending amount changes i.e. when there is stock issues. Can the merchant change the amount owed then release the pending funds?

Hi Kirsteen_f, 

 

Generally if a payment is taken or initiated using the order and authorisation options, your payment will show as pending until the merchant (in your case macys) captures the funds. Most merchants will only capture the funds once your order is ready. The reason they do this is because the generally need to check that all of your order is in stock. If not they will ship the items in stock and only charge you for the items shipped.
