Time to ditch PayPal Credit. Item Lost in transit and I don't have a protection.

Hope someone can help. I bought an item online on 12 Feb 2018 from HongKong and paid on PayPal Credit. Item still hasn't arrived. I have been chasing seller and they once replied saying item lost in transit and whether I want a refund or replacement. I asked for a refund. Since then there has been no reply to my email and no sign of a refund. I filed a dispute with PayPal on 27 February and the status still shows being reviewed by PayPal. I have spoken to PayPal couple of weeks ago and I was asked to upload email from seller confirming item was lost. I did that but I haven't heard back, its been 10 days since I uploaded my email communication. I spoke to PayPal yesterday and explained my frustration. This is what I have been told by PayPal adviser.

1) I have no protection on item lost in transit. I have to take it with Carrier or seller. (I have no information about carrier and seller don't reply to my emails)

2) The adviser cannot give me her full name.

3) Manager callback time is minimum 4 weeks.

Are all these statements correct? If statement 1 is true then what is the benefit of using PayPal credit? At least I have guaranteed result on Credit Card with chargeback should I not receive the item within a reasonable time.

Where do I stand? Have I lost £300? What is my right as a buyer in such situation? Cannot PayPal claw money back from the Seller? The seller arranged the delivery so the contract with the courier / post office is with the seller. They should deal with their insurance.

I hope someone can please shed some light on this situation. I will be ditching PayPal credit as soon as this dispute resolves.

Have you escalated the dispute to a claim?

I have and it has been over 3 weeks. Apparently, PayPal has asked for tracking number and seller hasn't responded. I don't understand why can't they claw the money from the seller?

If you are covered by buyer protection then that shouldn't matter, however if its an international transaction paypal may allow up to 30 days for the item to arrive or review the dispute.

Well, that is my question? What are my protection as a buyer paid on PayPal credit? Should it have been on credit card, I have all the right for refund. I have been told by PayPal, I don’t have the same right for PayPal credit payment.

Buyer protection covers you for any types of paypal payments however they are 'funded'.

Unfortunately it does not in my case. I have been told to take it with the seller or the courier if lost in transit. I requested to speak to manager as the lady adviser wasn’t helpful but I was told manager call back is minimum 4 weeks which I find very odd. Are these forum post moderated by PayPal employees? I really hope someone from PayPal looks into this for me.

Seems like you haven’t read my original post. I have contacted customer service several times and they are of no help. I am not allowed to speak to some one senior at PayPal and adviser I spoke, tells me to take it with the seller. Seller does not respond to emails. What am I suppose to do? I have seen that link before and my arguement is based on the information on that link which PayPal is not prepared to listen.

I read you post exactly correctly, you said 'are these forums monitored by employees' and I replied if you want an employee then contact customer services.

Whether you have or not is immaterial to the answer as that is the only way to get an employee.

No one here can do anything but offer advice, and my advice was the link / customer services.

If none of that helps then we can do no more.
