Card Reader Starting Up, Please Wait ....

When turned on my card reader contues to show the message Paypal Card Reader Starting Up, Please Wait ....  and does not move on.  Also of the 4 green lights above the screen 3 lights from right to left [off, on, on, on] stay on.

 

I have had this card reader for less than a year, and am very frustrated not to be able to use it.

 

Please can you offer some help and advice.

Hi Wotswotnow.

 

I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing difficulties recently when trying to switch on your PayPal Here card reader. 

 

Canyou tell me if you have tried to complete a factory reset on your device?

 

How do I perform a factory reset?

 

  1.  Locate the small opening next to the power button on the Chip & PIN card reader.
  2.  Insert a pin into this opening and hold it until you see the green triangle flash 8 times and one asterisk sign lit up. This indicates that the device has undergone a factory reset.
  3.  Once the Bluetooth light starts blinking, pair the card reader to your smartphone or iPad and open the PayPal Here app.
  4.  Complete any initialisation or updates if the App prompts you to. We recommend that you complete this step using a WiFi connection and with the card reader connected to a power source.
  5.  Once the card reader has been initialised and the software update has been completed (if needed), the card reader is ready to be used for payments.

If you continue to experience problems with your card reader after the factory reset, please contact Customer Support on <removed> or <removed> and we can assist you further.

I appreciate this is an old post but it would seem this maybe an ongoing problem. I have been having the same issue with my cqrd reader and admittedly resetting usually fixes the issue but surely it should not be necessary nearly everytime I come to use the reader/ When it works it is very useful but it seems to be very inconsistent and cannot be relied upon which is not what we want when running a mobile business.
