Alternative to Certificate of Good Standing

Please advise as to what we can do to provide an alternative document to a certificate of good standing.  We are an academic conference and not a business.  We had to get a federal tax ID number to get a checking account, but we do not earn income and do not file taxes.  We only collect fees to fund a conference each year and maintain a website.

Thanks much

Unless this would completely eliminate the need for the certificate, I don't think this is helpful.  We are neither a for-profit business nor are we a not-for-profit organization.  We are a small academic conference and all we do is pay our meeting cost.  Attorney and CPA have advised us we do not need a 501c organizational structure or to file taxes since there are nominal funds collected each year and there is no profit or business function for our organization.  We have an EIN only for the purpose of having a checking account.
