Buyer Protection and counterfeit items issue

I purchased an Arc'teryx jacket via a FB ad and used Paypal because of the buyer protection. The item was counterfeit and confirmed by Arc'teryx as such. Paypal's solution is for me to have to return the item to China to get my refund. This is a problem for 3 reasons: 1. mailing a known counterfeit item is illegal and 2. because shipping the item to China will probably cost me 50% of the cost of the item, and 3. because the allotted time isn't sufficient to ship an item to China. In this scenario, the counterfeiter wasn't punished in any way. My proposed solution, that Paypal is not supporting, is for me to 1. show proof of the item being counterfeit, 2. destroy the item and provide proof that it was destroyed, and 3. to have the charge reversed.

In the event of a dispute you need to bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you buy from that seller / item / country.
Its not illegal to sell fakes in China.
Paypal state this >>
PayPal is not obliged to reimburse you for any costs that you incur to comply with any of PayPal’s requests for cooperation for the purpose of resolving the problem (including, without limitation, costs that you incur to return a SNAD item to the Payment Recipient or another party as PayPal requests), although sometimes it may reimburse these costs.
Although they will compensate you for some of the cost if you have activated this at some point before you made that transaction .....

You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Yes, you're right. Unfortunately, I bought the item via a Facebook ad which gave no indication that it was from China.
What shocks me most is how Facebook, Paypal, Amazon, and Ebay are making it so easy for counterfeiters to operate in this country. The worst-case scenario for the counterfeiters is that they get their item back and lost shipping costs. The upside for them is that they get $120 for an item they spent $3 to make.
