Cell phone unlocking got prohibited by Paypal but after 3 months they've only shut down my company!

So, I successful created grew and created the largest cell phone unlocking company in the U.S. - TheUnlockingCompany.com

Cell phone unlocking is 100% legal, safe, and encouraged. In-fact, a lot of our customers we're referred to us straight from carriers here in the U.S., Canada, and U.K.

Very very long story short - On March 9, I got a call that for whatever ridiculous reason, cell phone unlocking was added to Paypals prohibited list, and within 24 hours, we we're shut down. Game over. They told us that all cell phone unlocking companies are getting shut down, all of them. It was industry wide. And instant. Thankfully we we're able to get a merchant account, but it has CRUSHED our sales, we are maybe doing 1/3 what we we're doing before. I've had to fire people, we lost our office, it's been rough. Anyways...

Here we are, 3 MONTHS LATER - we are literally the only one industry wide - that got shut down! Ok I get it, things change, Paypal didn't want to do business with cell phone unlocking companies, for whatever reason - but what I DO NOT LIKE is that so far - we are the only ones! 90 days later! All we are asking for is a level playing field, if you're going to ban cell phone unlocking "industry wide" why are we the only ones so far???

We've been patient for 3 months, it's been tough. But we're at the point where something has to be up. We have literally called probably 50 times, and have been emailing the violations emails every. single. day. We have a case number, they said they're looking into it, but absolutely nothing has happened. We even went as far to point out the other maybe 250 other huge websites that are still using Paypal on a daily basis.

Again I understand their decision, I don't agree with it, but if you're going to ban our industry, don't single out one company! They've told us multiple times on the phone it's only a matter of time, that it shouldn't be too long. (by the way it's incredible easy to find all the other cell phone unlocking companies by simply using Google, Bing, Youtube, etc. it would take a simpleton probably an hour to find and limit all their accounts.

End point - cell phone unlocking is on the prohibited list. But we are the only ones that got deleted. Although every time we talk to them, they promise it's industry wide. All we ask for is a level playing field. And answers as to why 3 months later - every other single cell phone unlocking company still is able to use Paypal

File a case with bbb.org under PayPal San Jose CA to have case reviewed by PayPal Office of Executive Escalation. Maybe being the largest cell phone unlocking company, they took you down first. the others they have to investigate and plan it out. <<shrugs>>

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Hello

Just to clarify large a very misleading statement, You were not the largest unlocking company in USA Canada and UK

As a matter of fact you were very small potatoes, There are hundreds much bigger than you ever were.

There is always two sides to every story, And I actually do know why you got banned but will not share it here in the community

If you want to criticize Pay Pal then please supply community members with accurate and truthful statements

Thank you for your reply!

Yes that’s true always 2 sides to every story for sure. I apologize for being misleading, but we were very well known with a quality reputation, as well as being a pretty good size company for awhile!

Could I get your info or you mine, so we can talk a little bit more about this in person? I’d appreciate any insight you would be willing to share with me. Just frustrating as this was how I put food on the table!

Thank you again!
