I received notifications and emails from Depop to say I had sold an item today, and I then received an email from paypal to say I had received the funds. The sum of money is large! I was very confused so went straight onto my accounts and someone has hacked my Depop account, listed a Gucci handbag And ‘sold it’ to an account that doesn’t look legit. There’s messages to another interested buyer on my account, but the listing was removed before I could see it. The money is on hold on my paypal account and the buyer has requested a refund. I have a friend who was scammed by refunding a buyer by transferring the money back on paypal and then somehow was made to refund it back as the buyer said they Didn’t receive it Has this happened to anyone else? I’ve escalated the claim to paypal but I don’t want to refund it yet. I’m unsure how the scammer will get money out of this but I want to know the end goal Thanks
