Dispute the charge because LinkedIn never received any charge

Hi everyone,

I have a recent transaction with LinkedIn and charged me an annual subscription fee. I quickly cancelled the subscription since I never asked for that. I had to contact their customer service and ask for a refund. So here is the problem, this is their reply to my refund,

"2. Due to credit card issue, we could not charge you and the subscription was cancelled on 08 August, 2019.

3. I do not see any charge of USD ******* (***.** + 0.00 null) in your account. "

LinkedIn also told me that it was a failed transaction at their end. I had to file a dispute to PayPal and @AskPayPal on twitter said to "Have you chosen the "Item not received" option to dispute this charge?"  But I can't open or file another dispute to this transaction because it is saying the case is closed and I have already filed before with unauthorized access and gave me a denied refund.

What do I do here next? I tried calling to PayPal but waited almost two hours to no avail. I lived here in the Philippines, I just wasted prepaid load just to call the number internationally and ends up nothing.

With this kind of problem, will I ever get my money back as soon as possible? Please help.

Kind regards

Since it is a subscription or recurring/billing agreement type payment, its not technically an "Unauthorized Payment". Unauthorized meaning someone without permission accessed your account and made a transaction. You'll have to answer PayPal at twitter that you filed dispute under wrong reason and that you need to change the reason from Unauthorized Payment to Item Not Received dispute.

NEVER file Unauthorized Payment unless someone actually accessed your account without permission.

Situations like the one you have, you inadvertently gave permission, even though you didn't want a subscription, sometimes these merchants set up automatic billing on your linkedin account while paying for something else and you think nothing of it when you link your PayPal to it until they end up automatically billing you. Got to watch these people like a hawk. 😉

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Yes, you are right.  It shouldn't be an "Unauthorized Payment" but since I was in a state of panic with waking up in the middle of the night seeing a notification with a transaction from PayPal and didn't time to explore more options. I was also confused because the free trial ended at the end of July and before this happened, there was a notification box in my LinkedIn that there was a problem with my credit card and couldn't charged me so they canceled my premium services. But I never expected that I will be charged again on August 8.  So I assumed that this must be an "Unauthorized Payment." I also contacted Paypal at twitter with your advice.

I already checked the automatic payment section and remove everything that might happen like this again.

Will I get refunded with this situation and how long will it take to return the money? They have taken the money from my bank's debit card.

Hi I created my Linkedin account a Long time ago. I never linked the LinkedIn to PayPal, I never gave them a credit card. They pulled this information  some how and it is an unauthorized charge. As in someone found the and paypal let it go through.
