FaceBook Marketplace Scam

Hi,

I am shopping around iphone and came across a seller selling it on Facebook MarketPlace.

Unfortunately I could sense the thoughts of seller and she asked me to make a secure payment for the item through facebook.

Initially I thought it was a scam, but also wanted to give a try since FaceBook is secure and also payments through paypal are protected.

As soon as I made my payment she blocked me and reported me so I could never get access to her profile or listing. I opened a case on Facebook but still I want to make sure if I can cancel this transaction through PayPal protection.

** I am sharing my experience so that no one else can fall into these kind of traps.

Any help in this or suggestions how to open a claim on Paypal and or FaceBook are appreciated.

Thanks,

Phani.

Similar experience. But he sold me someone else's PS4 which had an active online account on it. No games or controller as advertised so I disputed the payment. He said he used his mom's PayPal and she couldn't get her paycheck with the hold. So now I'm out $275 and probably holding a stolen PS4.

PayPal should allow re-opening for communication.
