Getting money back from Groupon merchant who sent me fake merchandise

This is a super long story...I’ll try to cut it down. I purchased 4 Kanken bags on Groupon. They arrived and it was obvious they were fake counterfeit bags. I went on Groupon to start a return but couldn’t because it was thru a merchant. I contacted them a few times about the return and finally they responded with an address to return them to. I sent them back as directed to the address via USPS priority. I emailed the tracking number. No response. I have been emailing and the responses I get back are “what’s the tracking number again, I didn’t get it” and “what bag did you send back” and “just a reminder we need more information to process your claim”. To all I have responded with the needed info. I have tried to contact Groupon 3 times to which I’m always told “we will pass this information in to the merchant. We can’t do anything”. I call BS, this merchant is selling under the Groupon name, Groupon can help. So yesterday I start a PayPal dispute and send ALL my files, tracking number the whole bit and today I get a response from PayPal that Groupon is willing to refund me if I send the bags to them!!! WTF!!!! I was very clear about the situation, the bags have been returned to the merchant. I simply want my money back. I got scammed with fake bags and I did my due diligence and everything like I should. I have never had an issue with PayPal but I’m a bit worried I am not going to get my money back. This is so messed up. I just added the tracking number and a message and files to the dispute but of course it didn’t get mailed to the address Groupon provided to PayPal because I sent it to the merchant where I was directed to send it.
