Instagram Scam

Hi All!

I recently decided (idiot) to buy that stupid green tea stick that supposedly cleanses the face on Instagram.  I really need to stop shopping after I eat — digesting takes too much blood away from my brain!

Anyway, I authorized $28 and took a quick screen grab of my order number.  I get an email from them that said “your order is being processed in 3-7 days, please be patient”.  No receipt.  That prompted me to check PayPal to see if they took the $ and there was no charge for $28 (and there still isn't).  Instead there was a charge for $80.96 from Marc Goodwin (?) with an email that I tried but doesn't work.

So, obviously I was scammed and I filed a claim through PayPal for an authorized charge since I didn't authorize them to take $80.96.  PayPal has denied the claim saying I authorized it.  Yes, I did!  For $28.  So much for the safety of using PayPal.  I think I will close my account (been a member since 2008) and just use ApplePay and Venmo.  My bank, Chase, is helping me with it.

The company is called StarsPopular.com but when I pull up their site, it says “horse kills chickens” (?).  Stay away from them, scammers and thieves.

A dispute for an unauthorised transaction is telling paypal that your account was hacked and used without your consent to make that transaction.
Paypal would check IP addresses and devices and close the dispute if it was you that made the transaction.

Why didn't you open a dispute for a billing error???

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I know!  I misunderstood the terminology.  It's probably too late, though, right?  But I did call and discuss with someone at PayPal and they supposedly changed it from unauthorized to billing error and still denied me.

Thanks for your reply!
