Lightsaber scam YIN <removed>

Hi,

I have been a victim of a classical scam, where I ordered "METAL LIGHT SABER" from colorful hairs:

https://colorful-hairs.com/collections/hot-sale/products/copy-of-7-color-transformations-50-off-disc...

I have received a cheap plastic toy (1$ worth) which was not properly packaged and got broken on the transit! The seller was not answering on both paypal account Email nor on his website. I opened a paypal dispute and I was instructed to send it back (to china) where the costs of sending were much higher than the actual product. I have also seen that the address is invalid:

Address where I should send it:

<removed> Shenzhen, GUANGDONG Province 518000 China

I really don't understand how paypal can be on the side of scammers. They also promise this on their website:

"WE PROMISE THAT OUR PRODUCTS AND PICTURES WILL BE 100% IDENTICAL. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RECEIPT OF THE GOODS, YOU CAN APPLY FOR A REFUND AND DO NOT NEED TO RETURN THE GOODS. YOU CAN USE PAYPAL TO PAY AND PAYPAL WILL PROTECT YOUR MONEY. "

I mean, are you kidding me! Can anyone help?

Ivan

@PoultonatorPlease read my post above on how I got PayPal to refund me. You have to speak to them and you need to say that they are complicit in a fraud by thinking it can be dealt with as a normal buyer dispute.

Good luck, don't let them fob you off.

Just received my refund today.  Now waiting on the refund for the return shipping.  What a waste for Paypal to do this.  They should just reverse all the payments automatically and freeze the scammers account.

I had the same issue and escalating the dispute just resulted in PayPal also requesting that I return the item to the sender and upload the tracking information.

Instead I called PayPal and once I got on to an agent and they looked into the dispute they immediately refunded the charge and told me I did not need to return the item.  They were familiar with the seller and know that it's a scam.

So the fasted way to get a refund without needing to mail the item back, is to to call PayPal directly.

I did the same and got a full refund and was told to keep the item no need to return it.

Same for me, i have been fighting this for 2-3 month now...its a joke.  I was one of, or the first person to report this scam to PAYPAL, if only they had listened to me, and my 15 pages of evidence, police reports, and online fraud reports, thousands of other people wouldn't have been affected.  On my first call to them, one of the first PAYPAL representatives told me the seller account is frozen as 100's of people have complained in one single day, great i thought!  Also, i was told i would get an unconditional refund, great again i thought!  3 weeks go by and nothing happens, and PAYPAL emails me telling me i only have a few days left to return the item to get a refund.......long story short, PAYPAL told me account was never frozen, its a BIG seller and so nothing can be done, and i still need to return the item to get a refund............Complete contradiction every time i spoke to them.

I did receive my refund for the product, but not until i shipped it back.  Now i'm still waiting for the refund for the shipping, which cost me USD 75.  PAYPAL have confirmed in writing multiple times that they will refund my shipping in full, but it will take 30 days, so that's what i'm giving them, and not another day more.

Its really a shame, all of this could have been avoided easily had they taken complaints of SCAM and FRAUD more seriously.  Clearly, you cannot trust any Ads on facebook, any random website on Shopify and even if it has Paypal payment options, it still cant be trusted.  Theres only one clear solution to this, dont shop on facebook, dont shop on Shopify unless you can somehow confirm the site, and use VISA payments directly through your own Bank and not PAYPAL anymore, as you can do a charge back to your card much more easily than trying to deal with PAYPAL.  Also, neither VISA or your bank will ask you to return items through scams to receive the refund, so I think BUYER PROTECTION is a joke.

I contact Paypal support through Phone. PayPal won't refund as I need to spend £40 to return the item and PayPal said it is a real address!

Another Update:

Contrary to the lies Paypal has told me, they still support the seller which may or may not be using different accounts on Paypal to do his evil bidding.  I checked the website which scammed me, and the other day they de-listed the lightsaber, only to list it again later.  When checking out any item on the website, PAYPAL is still available........so much for telling me that this seller wont be able to scam anyone ever again.

www.creative-mall.com (The original site the scammed me)

ALLWAYTECHC

Seems to all link back to this account above, and i have updated my case file with those details.

I suggest everyone to file a police complain as many of us have done, to make sure PAYPAL and the SCAMMER do not profit from other peoples misery.

Paypal has become irrelevant in this day and age, and i hope some good competitions comes along quickly, i assume people will jump ship like there is no tomorrow.

Facebook has an equal share of the blame.  They continue running ads for this scammer's fake storefront websites despite scores of complaints.  The ads just seem to keep proliferating.  The latest one is for a smart watch that blatently rips off Samsung's S3 product pics to make you think you can get a similar watch for about 1/6 the price Samsung charges.  Ads and website pages have the same "PayPal is safe" reassurances as the other bait-n-switch deals offered.  Fool me once...
