Surely the buyer deserves the item that they purchased or a full refund?
In the event of an item not received dispute its up to the seller to provide trackable proof of delivery of the item to the buyer or a full refund.
You then claim from Royal Mail for the lost item dependent on how you posted it and any insurance that you took out.
You don't have to send with tracking or insurance but its at your loss if you fail to do so and not the buyers but sounds as if you did send that way so issue a refund and then claim from RM.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
