Essentially, I started a paypal account about a year ago, now. I had wanted to try streaming, and decided to use a paypal for it, and just for whatever else I might need one for. That fell out for a while, and I left my paypal account pretty inactive. I didn't add any kind of payment method to it until maybe a month ago, I found my account again and decided I'd try and get it fully working. I received a $10 credit from paypal for some promotion or something, I have an email with them saying: "To welcome you back to PayPal, we’re giving you a $10 cash reward to use however you please.* Send it to a friend, treat yourself to something online, donate it to charity and more. To claim it, just sign in via the button below by December 13." I signed in, claimed the $10, and it was in my account. I attempted linking my bank/cards, and though my cards linked, my banks simply would not connect to paypal. I tried to connect them many times, but eventually gave up. Randomly, I have been trying again to link my bank, every couple days. It finally worked, and I decided I'd get a little bit of cryptocurrency through paypal with the credit they gave me. It would not let me purchase cryptocurrency, which I was annoyed about but figured I needed to finish some more steps to be able to or something.
I attempted to use paypal to buy something for the first time yesterday - about a $3 purchase - and it said my paypal account was limited and it couldn't complete the transaction. I logged onto paypal and got a notification telling me I've been 'permanently limited,' which I understand to be a permanent ban on my account, and essentially dissolving my account. This was literally my first purchase, ever, with paypal, and with money they provided to me. My banks have not had any suspicious activity, there's no way for my 'selling volume' to be suddenly higher/lower because I haven't sold, and my account was never compromised. This is just stupid and I'm going to be finding something else to send money with, and tell everyone I know not to use paypal, this is absolutely ridiculous...
Oh! And, even better: I wasn't notified my account was limited until I logged in, even though the official thread on paypal accounts being limited says that you need to be notified by email if your account is limited.... and I have an email from the 29th - around 4 days ago - telling me that I have a discount or something. On top of that, the official thread says when you're limited you'll be given a chance to log in and provide info that proves you're legitimate, and I never was given that chance. I was simply banned, with no warning.

a thread by a paypal employee. I was never notified, and never given a chance to fix this.
In conclusion, I'm never using paypal again, making sure everyone I know doesn't use paypal, and finding something better that doesn't ban me with literally no probable cause.
And, here's this as well: this is ALL of the activity on my account. From january of 2020 to the current day, this is my ONLY transaction.
