Hi everyone, So I have turned 18 recently and have been hit with a temporarily account limitation - This is where I can not send or withdraw any money till I verify my ID, upload a bank statement, provide address of my business and some information of my activity using PayPal. I currently have 1k in my PayPal account but I can not withdraw it at all due to my account limitation. - I had made PayPal when I was under 18 and placed a random date of birth (I'm pretty sure the month and the date is the same as my actual one, just not the correct year since I was under 18 at the time) At this point, I'm completely lost on what I could do. Have I lost my money completely or is there a way to get it back? I've read up that if you wait 180 days you can withdraw (but this seems to be only for accounts that are permanently locked, not temporarily locked). I've also heard that if I call up PayPal, they can transfer my money to my PayPal account that I created when I was 18. If I upload my ID and send everything then my account will probably be locked due to the DOB not matching to the one on my ID and them seeing that I made a PayPal account when I was under 18. Could I get into trouble for this? I'm completely lost and worried at this point. I have no clue what to do so any help would greatly be appreciated, thank you!

The account is fried, unusable since you opened the account while under 18 years of age. Upload your photo ID and let PayPal permanently limit the account because your entered DOB won't match your photo ID. You'll be emailed essentially informing you that you can no longer use PayPal and that funds are held, to cover any liabilities for 180 days before you can withdrawal, in case someone files a dispute against your most recent payment(s).
Get in touch with customer service, explain the situation, and see what they can do. I have read of them transferring the money over to another account before.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you for the response! Much appreciated! So I should just upload my ID and let it get permanently limited that way I can withdraw the funds within 180 days? I turn 18 in 2 weeks time but I've heard that if they find out you made an account when you were under 18, they will permanently ban you and not allow you to use PayPal anymore. Is this true?
You're welcome.
Yes, it is true. They check ID as you can see. You have to be 18 and over to operate a PayPal account. So if you are not 18 years of age yet, just let the temporarily limited account get permanently limited and withdrawal after 180 days. Then once you become 18, contact PayPal customer service about opening a new account, explaining the situation. Do not attempt to sign up again online as the new account can also get limited automatically because the system can cross reference it to your previously limited account.
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
