Problem trying to set up PayPal account for Bandcamp

Bandcamp says I must have a PayPal business account in order to get paid for the music I sell there. I opened a Paypal business account and linked my bank account to it. PayPal verified my bank account and sent me an email telling me it was all fine. However, when I log in to my PayPal account there is the red flag saying "you can't send or withdraw money" and :

"Some of your account information is missing, so you can't send or withdraw money right now. If we haven't received the information by * *** 2019, you won't be able to receive money."

Then it has an "update information now" button to click on. When I do this it only says thanks for updating the information, yet when I go back to my account page the red flag is always still there telling me I will not be able to withdraw money.

I do not understand what more PayPal needs. If I am unable to withdraw the money paid through Bandcamp from my PayPal account then it's pointless to even make a Bandcamp account in the first place. The whole point of this is to be paid for selling music, and Bandcamp only allows this through PayPal, which tells me that I am unable to use this service.

I do not understand what is going on and it is frustratingly difficult and complicated to find any information about this issue although I can find other instances mentioned on other forums where people are unable to use Bandcamp because of various PayPal problems, however none of that addresses my own situation. Bandcamp claims it is a straightforward process to set up a PayPal account but offers no instructions for my situation where PayPay says I am not allowed to withdraw the money I would get paid. If I can not find a solution to this then I will just have to delete my Bandcamp and PayPal accounts altogether.

This is in the email I got from PayPal:

"You have completed Step 1 of setting up Bank Funding. You should soon be able to use your bank account to fund PayPal payments and add funds to your PayPal account!"

This is a bit vague. When I log in to my PayPal account there's still the red flag info described in my earlier post forbidding me to use the service. I only really need to be able to withdraw the money from Bandcamp paid into my Paypal account, into my bank account. I have no idea what else has to be done. There doesn't seem to be easily found clear advice about these matters on either the Bandcamp or PayPal sites so as of yet I appear to have a verified PayPal business account that won't allow me to use it.

Have you confirmed your bank account with the 4 digit code?

Yes, the confirmation code came with the initial deposit into my bank and I went back to my PayPal account and did all the right things, and it showed that this had indeed worked correctly. As far as I can tell everything has been done and all worked as it should however I am still apparently denied access to any funds that would come into my Paypal business account through Bandcamp.

I'm beginning to see a pattern here. The annoying pop-up box that asks me to give my opinion about the review process or whatever keep popping up every time I have looked at the forum. I have always ignored it because I am here to resolve an issue, not to chat.

Today it popped up again so I though that by going ahead and doing the little survey thing, which said it should only take a minute or so, I thought that might make the annoying pop-up box go away in future.

After going through the motions of completing it and ticking the box at the end saying that I would not recommend PayPal to my friends this message came up:

"Your survey answers were not submitted because you have already responded."

As I pointed out above I have never submitted anything previously, so this is obviously a flawed system which makes me wonder how much of the PayPal system is also dodgy. There are certainly a lot of people out there on other forums very disappointed with the service for a number of reasons, not least of which is the seemingly absolute impossibility of getting any matters resolved in a reasonable time or manner, and because of this I have stayed away from PayPal and only relented to try opening up a business account for use on the Bandcamp website which unfortunately doesn't offer any other method of being paid. My advice to Bandcamp would be to find and offer alternate payment solutions for the people out there who don't, can't or won't use Paypal.

Personally I have found the PayPal site to be a horribly antagonistic experience for a number of reasons and almost impossible to use in a convenient and timely manner, and I question whether my money would be safe there. I am reluctant to tie my financial identity to an organization that gets so much bad press over and over. I am a busy person and do not have time to waste on pointless bureaucracy and I do not appreciate dubious or unnecessary complication of my financial matters and have always been very careful with my financial doings. Personally I will give it about three more days of trying to resolve my issues before I delete my account.

No, that does not help at all. I have already been there, done all that, and still PayPal seems to refuse to allow me to use a business account that I have set up just to receive Bandcamp payments, all this without any explanation whatsoever and apparently no way to even speak to human being about it. This is not customer service in any form and I don't think people with issues to be resolved should have to resort to seeking advice on a forum. If PayPal is a business then it has an obligation to the people who use it. If not, then it's just a scam.
