Returning Fake Rothys to China/PayPal's reaction to Fraud

I ordered Rothys from a link on FaceBook. I know, I should have been more savvy. When the shoes arrived after more than a month, they were the wrong style and wrong color. To get my $114.99 refund, it will cost over $200 to return these to China. While PayPal offers reimbursement for return shipping, it is only $30, leaving me out $55.  I have an open dispute, but I got a message yesterday saying I needed to respond to the seller, even though I did respond to both the company and to PayPal. I described the problems (wrong style, wrong color, knock off, expense of return to China) to both, but I have no way of knowing if either received my reply. I can't tell if this message is a generic reply to make sure that I answer the seller's offer before the due date or if I actually need to provide more documentation (which I don't have). What is your experience with Paypal's handling of fraud?

Same exact situation. Kicking myself for being so dumb, but really hoping Paypal can help on this front. I'm in the message land today - hoping there is a resolution.

Hope your outcome is better than mine. I got to keep the shoes (which are ugly and do not fit) and received $34, instead of the $120 I paid because I wasn't willing to pay the $120 shipping to send them back to China. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I made the same mistake. The seller offered me a refund of $10.00. Im currently disputing it. Wrong color and no invoice or return shipping label. Came in a bag.

This is happening with an awful lot of different type of goods. I have now lost my faith in ordering on line from new or unknown companies. There are hundreds of people being scammed in this way, lots of disputed raised with PayPal, all of which seem to be decided in the scammers favour as they are manipulating the PayPal policy of refunds when the goods have been returned and acknowledged received by the seller.

It means we pay for quality goods, receive poor quality, pay huge fees to send the goods back, the seller receives them but fail to inform PayPal, PayPal won't refund unless seller acknowledges. In the meantime, the seller continues to advertise quality goods, and your returned item is sent out to some other unsuspecting victim.

Good business model, but totally illegal.

I agree totally. I thought PayPal was here to protect customers from this kind of fraud. They sent the wrong merchandise (after over 6 weeks), they are selling cheap knock offs, yet I'm supposed to ship them back to China at over $120 in order to get a refund for $114. I was very, very frustrated, but now I'm practicing relaxation exercises whenever I think about it (hah!)

Same situation here. I won't use Paypal again for anything. I'll use my credit card. Now I'm out $86

Same exact situation here. I just filled my dispute. Not sure how Paypal gonna to deal with it. Cross my fingers. Good luck to who else in the same situation. Do not be too hard to yourself. This seems not an uncommon situation.
