Uber eats fraud

I had two strange charges from Uber Eats appear on my paypal account yesterday, and I quickly disputed both. Yet today, PayPal sent a note that they determined the charges were not unauthorized and closed the case!  

I have Uber Eats app on my phone but never use it. I used it only once in March of 2019.  The two charges from yesterday on my PayPal do NOT show up in my list of orders on the app.  

The fact that I'm certain I did not place any Uber Eats orders, plus the fact that the charges don't show up on my Uber Eats app -- makes me certain that there is some fraud happening.

Since they closed the case, and have no phone support right now, I'm not sure what to do.

I have the same exact issue. PayPal has the audacity to reply to my request saying they found no unauthorized usage and that next time I should review my user agreements. I had no user agreement with Uber eats and I placed no order, what a scam. I can’t believe they are doing this it’s completely unprofessional and I will be contacting my bank to request their assistance in the matter. Unbelievable. What an awful thing to allow to happen to your customers especially in a time when so many are struggling.

Good news in my case - after two phone calls to PayPal helpline, a Twitter conversation with PayPal, and a fruitless Facebook Messenger conversation with Uber Eats who kept asking me for my account details when I didn’t have one (which was the whole point!) Pay Pal did eventually refund my money.  No reason for the refund was given but it just appeared in my account.  I suggest you keep persevering.  My bank were not interested and said it wasn’t their problem. i also reported it to the UK online Fraud service but they closed the case as I guess it was too small for them to bother with. At least PayPal did pay up in the end, but it took a lot of perseverance as their default position is to dispute the claim. Good luck!

I can not call paypal they don't answer you have to send an email and after 5 minutes no you have to pay. I live in Holland I can't travel the orders were in the UK and ordered with a USA phone number. And they order Kebab I am a vegetarian 😞 I am so mad.

This has happened to me aswell! Even though I was able to call PayPal they said they couldn’t refund me because no one technically hacked my paypal. Uber eats customer service is a POS and they won’t reply to any of my inquiries. I’m so angry

I am not going to pay it. I am in shock that paypal is changed so much. Thank god it's 45 euro. Uber eats doesn't respond. 

What are you going to do pay it? Or we have to?

This happened to me last night, with the same resolution from PayPal. What a joke of a fraud department- I do not even have an Uber eats account. They should be able to at least check what area the transaction was made in, to confirm it’s nowhere near my location.

I have the same 2 orders in the UK I live in Holland. Paypal said you have to pay it. What? I always felt save paying with paypal. I will never use paypal again. I am so angry they don't answer the phone just an email and no you have to pay.

How did you get on ? I've had a similar issue in the last week, My £17 something order was rejected 4 times (the restaurant told me to keep trying and then closed 🙄🤣) I then ordered somewhere else for £15ish, I then saw a PayPal charge of £22.19 that I didn't authorise . This is how they stole from me , I had to get a part refund for my £15ish order because items were missing and others were wrong , I got a part refund of £9 , uber now want me to pay £15 again? Ummmm what ? The £22.19 they stole from me is from Jan, when they part refunded me for a wrong /bad order , again PART refunded but took the full amount back ! Theft at its finest . Pay pal do not give a toss ! I've tried multiple cases with them and provided proof via screen shots of uber saying why they took it , so pay pal can clearly see I paid it already, but nope . Uber have gotten of Scott free . I have to go via my credit card provider now to get them to claim it back . I alwaysbuse credit card via PayPal these days so I'm covered in some way

Paypal called me I had to pay it otherwise they would send a collection agency. I will never use paypal again.  I thought I was save 😞
