i am a drummer. played a show last night and meet a ebay scammer.he is a drummer also. first he offers to sell me a very nice set of vintage zildjian k cymbals for crazy cheap prices. i am wondering if they are hot ( stolen ) at the price he wanted. i decline . then he offers to buy my old broke cymbals ,looking for zildjian eak cymbals (no serial #) . i ask why, thinking he repaired them. he tells me he has been buying good cymbals off of ebay and returning damaged ones to the seller and paypal refunds his money. he smacks the box so it looks damaged puts the cracked cymbal in the box and sends it back to the seller. provides a tracking # to paypal. he gets the good cymbal and his money back. being a seller on ebay this made me sick. i have had the same problem with people returning there junk and keeping my good item. paypal gives them the money back if they show it was returned. i have not lost $2000, but it is not fair in any way. this guy does this about 3 times a year he claims. i see how his scam is working good and paypal is his ace in the hole. after braging up his scam to my guitar player (who lost money before from paypal) , he was knocked out cold by him. now if only my guitar player could only meet the agent who helps this guy with his scam.  being a seller its only bound to happen to you. paypal will help the crook and not care about the seller. this guy had so many cymbals to sell his scam is working. look up vintage zildjian and you will see they run very high in price. ebay scamers avoid my guitar player.

So do something about it.

This guy has confessed to you that he commits intentional fraud - call the cops.

You're the only one that can stop him.

the cops were called and informed. they dont care. his word against mine. he got all of those cymbals legally and paypal helped. its your policy.  when i contacted ebay, they only keep records for 45 days and i wasnt given his ebay name. he wasnt talking after his head swelled up. i have posted the problem here. i wont be doing paypals job of stoping fraud. if paypal wont stop fraud, how can i ? this type of fraud is going on every day, not just with cymbals.  paypal doesnt care, open a claim and prove you shipped it back. buyer refunded. easy as pie. i have informed paypal of this scam for over 2 years. nothing has changed. paypal keeps refunding for the buyer. if i was scum i would have lots of new stuff for free. i still have all of my cracked cymbals and wont be ripping any one off. its tempting to prove my point with fox news helping document every step. paypal is the problem, nice loop hole you have created.

Seems as though PayPal is just full of loop holes for scammers to take advantage of. I am frustrated with this as well as PayPal makes it easy for liars and cheaters to make money from honest people who are under the impression that PayPal will help them if they are wronged.

I purchased an order from an online retailer out side of PayPal. I could have used my visa or my mastercard, but chose PayPal because I thought their buyer protection plan would protect me (or at least the same protection as my credit card).  WRONG! The company took my money and then sent me a cheaper, old, product, worth MUCH less then what I PAID for! I tried to contact them numerous times, but was ignored..... and I soon found out why. These clever scammers knew that because I used PayPal that I was S.O.L and they were free to steal my money. I filed a dispute (which they ignored) and then escalated to a claim - which was immediately denied by PayPal. Turns out, hidden in the user agreement, there is a statement saying that they DO NOT COVER items significantly not as described on transactions outside of eBay. Meaning - a merchant outside of eBay can send you a rock in a box and you can't do a darn thing about it. They are free to steal your money and you are left without any course of action against them. Unless you want to spend tons of money and time trying to seek legal action .... which these scammers know most people will not do (or cannot afford to do).

May not be a bad idea to organize a group to contact the news, since it seems there is an overwhelming amount of people complaining about PayPal "assisting" scammers. Too bad we cannot somehow organize such a group, I bet lots of people who have been victimized (such as myself) would love the opportunity to bring this into media light ......

Of course not - Paypal explicity states that you don't get that protection in its User Agreement, which you were supposed to read before you opened your account.

Great idea!

The news will report that people really need to read and follow the User agreement and our problems here will drop by 99%.

All you'll prove is that some people are dishonest - we already know that.

BTW, it's not "my" system - I'm a volunteer here, I don't work for Paypal.

Realistically, with a system of 150 million users and billions of transactions every year, you're going to get some abuse - it's impossible to ferret out every way to misuse the system.

If you had sellers acknowledge that the item was returned and in good shape, some sellers would abuse the system by claiming that every item returned wasn't theirs - we already have guys refusung to pick up parcels in an attempt to queer the system.

Wow.... I would have thought someone who spends so much time on these boards and meticulously reading through the PayPal user agreement would be getting some sort of compensation for their time. I thought it was odd (and very childish) that anyone who may have been representing PayPal in any capacity would be wasting so much time instigating and arguing, but I couldn't imagine anyone's life would be so pathetic that they would do so for lack of anything better to do.

So, you are right and people should read the user agreement thoroughly. Unfortunately some of us have jobs, hobbies, lives etc and tend to spend our time doing more important things then reading PayPals disclosures and then arguing with faceless people online. Yes, we are out money and have now learned our lesson (tough luck for us) .... but seriously, my friend, you need a hobby. Resist the overwhelming urge to write me back trying to be clever while attempting to instigate me further because I am not going to respond, peel yourself off the computer, and find something productive to do with yourself.

surplusdealdude, wow are you full of your self. i am willing to bet you are a liar. my aunt has spent some time going over your replys on this forum. boy do you leave a trail. you have inspired her to look into this problem. your way of dealing with people is rude and condesending. you dont run anything yet alone 3 companys, you liar. you bark loud to defend paypal, but wont address the real problem. little coments saying "go call the news, it wont do any good" only shows you are a idiot. so i called my aunt. you are working for paypal or related in some way(ADVISOR). you have even solved some problems for some people on this forum. when i contacted her about the fraud your company lets go on, she wasnt that eager to help. after reading your 700+ post, she is sending a team monday to get to the bottom of who you really are and your role on this forum. if paypal has anything to do with your rude ways, this could get huge. just what ebay and paypal needs before there big push for the holidays. more time on tv should do them good. her freinds at dateline NBC will cover the scam problem with ebay selling auction time and letting us sell with no returns. while paypal forces us to return items. sister companys with a conflict of intrest. whos the ones breaking the law? you will have to deal with her the senior producer at fox news in NEW YORK. she gave me her word that you will be exsposed. she was happy to help, just because you are a jerk. thanks for the help....dumb **bleep**..i love family in high places with lots of resorces. keep in mind. your being watched.

That's because she knows it's not fraud.

I don't see how that could be, but don't let me stop your fantasies.

Her "friends" are aware of the defamation laws - once they check their facts, they're going to realize that yoour allegations are just hot air.

First it was NBC news, now it's Fox News - make up your mind, already.  You're obviously making this up as you go along.

keep in mind. your being watched.

By such as you?  I need not worry, then.

BTW, look up the term, "credible threat".  because you don't make them.
