How to find a transaction ID when paying with debit card with PayPal checkout without using account

I ordered an item from a website that uses Paypal checkout. I have a paypal account, but I've only linked it to my credit card. This purchase exceeded my credit line, so I paid by debit card which wasn't on my PayPal account and entered all my info like a normal purchase.
I confirmed payment and I'm sure the order went through, but apparently it didn't and I didn't get an order confirmation nor UPS tracking number. I was charged, but it's "pending" status still. I e-mailed the retailer and they're asking for a transaction ID and I can't seem to find one and they have no records of me placing an order. I tried going through my history, but PayPal security protocol doesn't allow me to get any info off those pages.
Can anyone help me find out how to find my transaction ID so I can get some help from the retailer or to get my money back?

Go to the main page of your paypal account and find the transaction line where you paid.
In that line, you'll see a blue link named "details". Click on that.
The page that comes up has the transaction ID on it.
Be aware that there is a glitch in Paypal - some payments don't post for 3 days. That may be what's causing the problem.

It's not in my account since I didn't use it to pay for the item. Rather than add my card to my paypal account, I just chose "Pay with Debit or Credit Card; if you don't have a Paypal Account" and filled out the info.

ewww, that's somewhat more difficult.
I'd suggest you phone Paypal and ask them how to retrieve the number, then - they may have to do it from their end.
Their number comes up when you click on 'contact us'.

Thanks. I found the number and I called them up, the automated system had trouble with my request after 4 steps or so, transferred me to be assisted by a nice fellow, who e-mailed me practically my whole order receipt, including UPS tracking number. Whole process took less than 10 minutes.
