I got Scammed by a Fraudster on PayPal! PayPal can't help me.

I arranged to purchase tickets for a sporting event and paid via PP. The seller asked me to use friends and family to transfer funds via an email address. I wasn't aware that this method is not covered by purchase protection and of course never received the tickets. After contacting PP, there is nothing they can do apparently because of the payment option I chose. The fraudster is still active and successfully scamming people on this PP account. In hindsight I have learned a lesson the hard way but how can I ensure others don't fall for the same trick. PP can clearly see fraudulent activity on the PP account. DO they have an obligation to report this to the police authority and investigate? How can I request more info off PP to advise my local police team?

If you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then you could try a chargeback.

However that is often declined as well as you sent a present / 'gift' of money to someone and you were not paying for goods (as you didn't choose the goods option) so the receiver was not expected to provide any.

He could just say you owed him money and so sent him the funds.
