PayPal *[Seller_name] 402-935-7733 CA on credit card statement but nothing went thru PayPal account

hi all

This is a weird one and I can't work out what happened. Basically a series of 4 payments turned up on my credit card (which is linked to PayPal account) statement with the text:

'PayPal *[Seller_name] 402-935-7733 CA'. I have checked them out and they all relate to eBay purchases I made. 

But this is the weird thing, none of the payments are shown in my PayPal account.

Anyone got any ideas. PayPal resolution centre is no good since it first asks me to select the dubious payment in my PayPal account...and since they are not showing up there I can't do that!

It depends on how you paid.

If you paid by going through your PayPal account, it would show. However, Ebay also has the option to checkout directly with your card - These will show up on your statement as PayPal payments, even though they were done directly through your card.

definitely paid with PayPal, so would expect to see the transaction on PayPal account. but not there!

My charges were for Dec 2017 and January 2018. Different amounts. I found out it was for Avast software.They automatically charge each year. I requested they refund the latest charge and discontinue auto withdrawal for Dec 3018 and January 2019. Charges were for different security software programs.
