Paypal Credit Letters

I have received many letters from Paypal Credir over the past few months, and called Paypal directly (not the number on the letter) and was advised that Paypal never send any communications by post and to ignore them. The letters have been coming through thick and fast and I found out today that my credit rating has been severly hit by this. How this happens is beyond me.
I had been advised by a Paypal moderator to scan and email the letters to spoof@paypal.com which I did, but just received an automated reply saying not to reply to suspicious emails. Not at all helpful.
I have been in contact with Action Fraud, but nothing will be done by them apart from me receiving a crime reference number, again no use at all.
I have two Paypal accounts, one for personal and one for business which are both clear. I really don't know who to turn to for help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I called Paypal (using the number from the website) they didn't seem to recognise that telephone number. As it was on a letter that I was advised Paypal never send, it was assumed the number as well as the letter was part of the scam, as were the names used on the same letters.

Thank you for the reply, but after being informed by Paypal that they didn't recognise that telephone number it doesn't seem wise to call it.

Seems a bit daft as the number is clearly printed on the official Paypal Credit Team Uk website but never mind.

Apologies. The number on the letter is 0800 368 7151 , NOT 7155.
I guess the 7151 number is the fraudulent number and 7155 is legitimate?
