Hello
I'm new to paypal, this is joint account with my fiance as we have a joint bank account. I recently bought something from a website and because I don't know our paypal login, I clicked to pay using card instead. This however is showing as a paypal transaction on my bank statement.
As we have now found out the site was fake and theft, is this able to be claimed through paypal or not?
Thanks x

Well you can contact paypal but what you ought to do is talk to your card issuer as a priority and unless they tell you otherwise, to report this to the police as a case of fraud. If you paid using a credit card and the amount was over £100 you have protection under section 75, if it was a debit card or the amount was smaller then they should still be able to attempt a chargeback.

Sounds as though you paid as a "guest buyer" rather than via your paypal account.
You can still open a dispute but you need to contact customer services to have them open it for youl.
Go to contact us bottom of paypal pages > put in account probs and either email or phone the number given.
When you get through don't select any options just hang on till you get transfered to an agent.
Tell them that as a guest buyer you want them to open a dispute for this transaction asap under buyer protection requirements.
Wait till the end of the dispute and if for any reason you don't get a refund then you can go to your card issuer but your card issuer if you paid with paypal will expect you to go via paypal first.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
