I just got this in my email as a response to reporting it.

First, LOVE the name.
Second, do you still have a copy of the original email you received? I'm interested in seeing it so we can follow up with our own teams and make sure they're identifying correctly.
Let me know if you do still have it, and I'll reach out to you directly.
Thanks!
Adrian

If the email is legit, but my browser is already up to date, does this mean someone that someone else has been accessing my account?

I also thought this was a scam. The browser that I use for Paypal is up to date. I checked on that recently to make sure.
The email scared me, since it uses my full name, and on the net I either use my nickname or a handle. I figured that maybe the scammer got hold of my business card, which does have my full name.
It would have made more sense to suggest on the PayPal start page that it is important to have an up to date browser and not send this info to Paypal users, which looks like you are phishing.

I got this email today. It strikes me as being a REALLY bad idea. It smacks of a phishing scam. And my browers are all up-to-date, so why did I receive it?

Got the browser update e-mail too ... and it used the official contact name for our account which is different than usual scams. This is of great concern to me.
Could someone from pp PLEASE for once get back to me and tell me if this is for real or not??? it's crazy for users to be going back and forth about this when a simple list of known scams published by pp on their site would establish the truth.
why is pp so detached from our reality??

Hi -- I haven't used paypal in a month or so and I also thought someone was trying to hack my account when I got this e-mail. Wait - is www.paypal-community.com/ a legit website? Did I just get phished at this website when I logged in?
Why would it tell me "It looks like you may be using an outdated browser with known security issues." when I'm using the latest version already?
This was a very novice error in website management I don't expect to see from Paypal and whoever decided to send out this e-mail should be fired.
Bob
ps. and I couldn't change my text back to black after a cut and paste from your e-mail above, looks like this editor needs some work too....bk

It's legit, but I NEVER follow links in emails. If you're logged into your PayPal account, it is under "Security and Protection". It should be in place of those annoying Visa messages I have to go through to get to my account. They shouldn't send emails with links in them.

I got this email and it appears to be legit. However, I already am running the latest versions of Chrome and Internet Exploder, so I don't need to update. Remember, you don't have to click ANY links in this email if you don't want to. Go into the settings of your particular browser and update it straight from there - it's safe and secure. It's really low of PayPal to send out an email like this though. 😞
