I have been trying for a week to close my PayPal account. I have been happy with Paypal and may open a new account, but recently my checking account was cleaned out after making an online purchase using PayPal. I filed the necessary police reports and the bank gave my money back. I am not sure how the crooks got my bank account information, but I thought it was either off a check I had written, which I don't do very often, or through Paypal. Naturally, I closed the bank account too. I want to close my Paypal account, but it keeps saying I can't while there are pending transacations or verifications. I didn't have any outstanding transactions the first time I tried to close it. I am just an individual, not a business. I just requested a check refund of my Paypal account balance. I will wait a week more and try to close it again.
I am not saying Paypal is untrustworthy, but not all of the people or businesses who use it are honest. I looked all over Paypal and couldn't find a phone number anywhere. I finally got one via online search,but I don't understand why PayPal is so elusive with their contact numbers.
I may reopen a Paypal account later, provided I ever get this one closed, but it will not have my bank account information.
