iOffer SCAM

I purchased a Louis Vuitton handbag through ioffer, I should of known it sounded too good to be true...

After I used paypal to pay for the bag I kept sending emails for delivery conf. # finally I got one that has no record at all and it's been almost 2 weeks. Now that I just read all the other ioffer scams I want to cry... I paid $150 for this bag,

and now  theres a chance they can come up with a legit # and I'm out 150? why does paypal even get involved with such a shady service? I thought paypal would protect me, but I guess not.

Let's say I do get a package with something other than my bag, can I send it back with a tracking # and get my money back? will I have paypal protection at that point?

What should I do to make sure this seller doesn't get away with this again? I also noticed there are 5 others of this rare bag, all different sellers and none have ratings, they all have 0's.. I noticed all this after it was too late... all of them are the same exact photos with the same exact listing description... I was just so happy I was getting this bag that I forgot to pay attention to the details, which normally I do... Shame on me:(

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to end this person from doing this again?

I'm sure paypal gets ton's of these everyday from ioffer newbies, they should have some kind of escrow until the seller gets there package. I sell on ebay and I've had holds on some items I sold until the buyer left feedback, maybe that should be done with I offer to help stop international scams.

SO WISH I have READ these sooner!!

I ordered a pair of shoes from Ioffer only because I had ordered sunglasses adn I had gotten EXACTLY what Iordered. I got my BUTTON today instead of the shoes I ordered and I filed a dispute with PayPal however after reading what you have all written I don't think its going to go anywhere!

What makes it worse it that PayPal called me to confirm my order .. and I asked the guy when he called me if it was a scam adn maybe I shouldn't be ordering it. He assured me it wasn't and just wanted to confirm that I wanted to make the purchase.. Insult to injury I had my out right there.

This is why we shouldn't order products from overseas !

LIVID!

Hi jenjen90210, welcome to the forums!

A lot has changed as regards Purchase Protection since the previous posts. Definitely try communicating with the seller first - but if the seller is uncooperative or non-responsive, you can file a buyer dispute in your PayPal account within 45 days of the transaction. It looks like you've done that, so stick with it and make sure you follow any directions in the claim.

I'm rooting for you. Good luck!

Ioffer .com Transaction Deviate’s, Sellers Greed, But Smart Buyers Bite Back

While iOffer does not provide customer service, Online Auction Sites & Services need laws. Chaotic behavior can be observed on iOffer.

Sellers can post an asking price or request offers; buyers, in turn, can purchase an item at its asking price or make an offer. All transactions are negotiable; Sellers can post a "want ads". Transactions can be made with money order, western union, and PayPal. When reading the sellers ad in full, they would say Return Policy Accepted, within 14 days, we will not return shipping cost if we made any mistake. However some ad’s have a Asking price with Free Shipping.

This is where the risks are involved:

You see or seen an item you want or like, you decide to purchase it from the seller. The seller provides a tracking number for you, the item is delivered to you, it’s now in your hands after

Patiently waiting, you open the package and BOOM! The seller sent you the wrong item or it’s not the one from the ad. If you decide to return there no telling what the seller would do either refund or exchange and reship back to your hands. I have yet to see any seller exchange and reship back, Although I have seen refunds which is still a big lost because you sent a item back money order, western union, and PayPal won’t recover shipping cost this means there import export business is good in their governments eyes. I personally would look for ad’s with Free Shipping

For the buyer items that are not received or not significantly as described happens, most buyer who use money orders or western union will not receive item at all, it would not be wise to use those outlets to purchase anything online, the smart buyer will use PayPal for their protection program for items that are not received or not significantly as described to regain full refund, but not return shipping

Now let’s say a seller item is Price: $20.00 (Shipping costs included in offer) Total: $20.00, the seller receive 20USD from you, howsoever the seller priced the belt for 14USD, then the shipping cost should be 5USD, that equals to 19USD,all together you pay 20USD.The seller contacts you and says Dear friend: Was my fault, the goods are $ 20, shipping is $ 14, I hope you understand. Total price 34 USD. You pay USD20. Please again send out USD14. We send out to you! Thanks

Thinking to yourself WTF! sure it would be a very low price sale for Seller, "iOffer's concept" I the buyer Offer price
You the seller then Counter Offers, I the buyer then accepts, we then exchange payment for goods based upon agreements, I’m sorry but I would be a fool to cancel the transaction, you would have to cancel it, I will never ever never renege the agreement, you can dispute or report it but I won’t! I want my item or pay me 40USD then I will rate the transaction.

Is this buyer wrong? Looks like extortion, but the buyer is absolutely positively right. The seller would of did the same to you and get away with it, If I bought a item then its shipped out then  it gets to my home and it’s not what I paid for  then I would have two options 1)keep it or 2)send it back to the seller. I would have to ship it back and spend more money on postage because of their mistake RIGHT!
when the seller clearly made mistake
Now in this case it would be just the same
if the seller sold item for  then didn't realize shipping was included, but wants the shipping which clearly changes the price and the agreement, the seller should have two options 1)send out item still or 2)the buyer cancel’s order but double the amount spent refunded put back in the person account for their mistake

If you ask me neither the three are of any use for safe transactions, because **bleep** still happens that’s my word bond. I personally experienced it myself but took action as fast the seller would, and I came to a moment of clarity, we the buyers have no voice only because we let them get what they want, speak up and explain clearly what needs to be done to keep you protected.

Hi DrKain, and welcome to the forums!

If a buyer wins a claim on PayPal, the entire amount of the original transaction is what will be granted back. If the cost of shipping is included in the original transaction, it will be refunded. If a seller tries to renegotiate a price after you've paid, or charge you more for shipping, you can ask the seller to refund the first transaction and let you pay in a second transaction. That way your protection will extend to the full amount.

I hope this helps!
