Any reason why not upload the files to a hosting provider like Google Drive, Dropbox, Titlegram etc, then just send the file link to your customers? They would then be able to click on the link to access / download the PDF file directly.
While there are many security measurements you can implement, they often end up inconveniencing your customers. So I wouldn't recommend beyond the common hosting services unless security is absolutely required.
