I am finding it impossible to add friends US address into my paypal. Under the old layout, I had his address added so that I could buy and have shipped directly to his house in the US, but since this different version of Paypal was introduced, it was removed and the only option I have gives me a UK address layout.

It is correct that only a UK address can be added to a UK account. You can, however, ship to an address in another country. All you need to do is add the address when you are making the payment. You need to make this change before the payment is sent. Here’s how:
When you are reviewing the payment details in PayPal, choose your preferred address from the drop-down menu.
If the address you wish to use is not in the list, click + Add a new shipping address.
I have the same problem. I'm from the Philippines and used to be able to add my cousin's address and have my items shipped to her. Now the only option I get is my own address. Seems to defeat the purpose of using PayPal...
Thank you for responding. I can assure you that it is impossible to do it as you have stated, because the only listing you get is local i.e UK based.
I now have to go through the hassle of getting my US based contact to buy the items I require, and then pay him. It seems a silly way of going about things.
