I had been tryingto sell a piano and was contacted by a lady who agreed to purchase it ,I became suspicious whne she did not want to come and see it but agreed to paytehfull price of £700. Subsequently she contacted me to say she had paid £1100 into my pay Pal account and would I pay teh carriage etc before the £700 was released .I then received an offiocial looking Pay Pal e mail confirming that the £1100 was held in a suspense account and would be released when I paid the £400 . Naturally by this tme I realised it was an elaborate scam and called their bluff .Should I report this to the police ?

I expect she wanted you to pay the shipping agent or courier via moneygram or western union.

Scam has been ongoing for years and is all over this forum and the net, pointless reporting them as they are nearly always using anonymous email addresses and based in Africa somewhere.

Just remember  >>

Paypal NEVER tell you to send trackable, they advise it for seller protection etc but it is not compulsory.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.

Paypal NEVER expect you to use a rival money transfer service.
