Hi all. I was owed some money by a friend. It was easier for him to pay me back through PayPal. I've now received the money, but have been charged. It wasn't an international payment and it wasn't for goods. I thought there were no fees for what is essentially a gift? Lee.

Depends, if your friend used the friends / family option then it is free as long as he funds it via funds in his paypal balance or bank transfer and NOT a card.
But even if there was a fee the sender normally pays it.
But if he chose the goods / services option then you would be charged a fee.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
