Hi guys,
Just a quick question, I'm confiused.
I recently received 3 payments -
One from a friend (sent friends & family), and two refunds for unwanted goods.
The amount shown in my balance is around £30 less than the sum of these three. Why is this?
Is it possible my balance was negative beforehand? I didn't think it could be. And as far as I'm aware there should be no fees involved in these three transactions. Thanks a lot!
Andy

Possibilities >>
1. Have you bought anything and paid for it via paypal since the payment went in??
The reason i ask is that if you have funds in your paypal balance and then buy something then paypal will always take from those funds (as that is now the default funding source), rather than from your normal funding source eg bank account or card.
To check go and click on the word "details" next to any recent paypal buying transaction and see if they were funded from your paypal balance ie buyers payments rather than your normal funding source.
2. Have you had any disputes found against you and your buyers refunded??
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your help!
I haven't bought anything since these payments came in (they were the last 3 transactions by a few days).
I even checked the details of a few recent purchases as you suggested but the funds all came from my card/account, not paypal.
I've also had no disputes refunds at all. Very strange?

ok then that is weird.
Think all you can do is give customer services a call and see if they can sort it for you.
If they do can you come back and update as that is how we learn.
Click on the words "Contact" at the bottom of your paypal account summary page and use the phone option (if there is one in the country you are in) > click on the "call us" option on the left (fees "may" apply so check the cost with your phone tariff first, as you sometimes have to wait a while to connect).
When you get through don't select any options just hang on till you get transfered to an agent or say the word "agent".

Problem resolved!
I got through to an agent just now. My balance shown was correct - I'd received a refund for £65 (shown on paypal balance) but around £40 of that £65 had originally been paid by my card so was refunded directly to that, not to paypal balance. Makes sense now!
Thanks again for your help,
Andy
